Founded in 2020 by Wade Wei, Magicycle is a new player in the electric bike industry. With 6 models in its 2023 lineup, the company continues to expand its range by introducing new models that serve the needs of its customer base. Magicycle’s original electric bike models are built tough to tackle a variety of terrain types and feature 26″ x 4″ Kenda fat tires for added stability and comfort. In June 2022, the brand launched its new Commuter step-over model which offers Magicycle fans something that they’ve been asking for — a stylish, lightweight urban commuter.

Despite being a new brand, Magicycle has already made a name for itself by delivering excellent value. The company’s electric bikes are affordably priced and come loaded with quality components and features such as corrosion-resistant 6061 aluminum alloy frames, 180mm Tektro hydraulic disc brakes, comfortable saddles, Kenda fat tires, Shimano gearing, integrated front and rear lighting, adjustable front suspension, and more. Additionally, each Magicycle bike is backed by a 2-year warranty and generous 15-day money-back guarantee.

    Do not buy it…

This bike is very dangerous. Please do not buy it. My husband hit a curb with it and it completely fell apart, sending him over the handlebars and in to the road.

The entire fork broke in half. The tire blew. The bike just crumbled.

He suffered a concussion and multiple sprains. We have medical costs and the bike is in pieces. The company offered to send a new fork, which they did but it’s not possible for us to put the bike back together so, their offer was $200. We asked for a full refund so we can purchase a safer bike.

The company is very difficult to work with and they do not seem to care that their product caused harm and was built poorly.

To be fair, I ordered a couple of open box bikes from Magicycle thinking they would have been checked out then shipped. Nope! Both had bent derailer mounts, one had a bent brake rotor, and that’s so far. I found the bad rotor before assembly so I contacted the company and they screwed around for a couple of weeks before it was sent. Same on derailer mounts. Have ridden bikes exactly 1 time in over a month as I’m waiting on parts… obviously drop shipped from China. Very, very poor product support as far as USA stock of replacement/warranty parts. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone. Better off going through a local dealer and possibly a different brand even though most are Chinese.

Please be warned: Take a HARD PASS on Magicycle. This company is NOT a legitimate ebike retailer. They DO NOT stock replacement parts in the US and will not accept returns even if the ebike arrives defective or DOA. LOOK ELSEWHERE if you value customer service and ebike reliability. Again, do NOT buy from this unresponsive and poorly managed business. If you experience any defect or issue with major components, it will turn your new ebike into a BRICK with NO repairs available, no parts available, and no return shipping.

I bought a Magicycle Deer step thru. Customer service is completely clueless. I contacted them to ask if the rear shock was adjustable. They sent me a video on how to adjust the front suspension featuring a different FRONT fork on a different brand ebike. I am 6′ & 260 lbs. The rear shock is too bouncy for big/fat people. The geometry of the bike is uncomfortable for big/ tall people. I have already ordered a layback seat post and handlebars with a higher rise, which will probably require new, longer cables.

That said, the motor and battery are strong. I love the cruise control feature. I found the color LCD control to be easy to see and easy to make adjustments to settings.

I agree that if you are not handy and don’t have experience working on bikes, you will have trouble with assembly. Magicycle needs a specific assembly video for the Deer, as there are differences in assembly that are not covered in their generic assembly video. The written assembly instructions are laughable.

Magicycle is much better at advertising and selling than they are at design and support.

I REALLY wish I had bought a Himiway! Or a Cruiser pro.

Great job selling but not supporting…

My wife and I purchased the Deer ebike. We’ve had it for a few days. It’s a very comfortable bike and performs well. I have taken it out on some dirt roads and the suspension is good. Here are some things that I have discovered.

    1) You might get 80 miles on a charge if you use pedal assist at no more than 1 or 2. I used PAS of 3 and it took 20% of the battery to go 13 miles on mostly level ground. I was peddling hard too. This would equate to 65 miles.

    2) The Magicycle website is all about selling bikes but has very little technical information on the bikes. For example, I have still not found what the batteries are made of.

    3) Customer service has been non-existent. I called and talked to someone about some bike specs and they were absolutely clueless.

    4) I would like to attach a water bottle, but on the Deer step-through there are no screws like every bike I have seen has. Unless you are will to drill into your bike, you’ll need to put your water bottle in your backpack or on the luggage rack.

    5) The bike is sturdy and solid, however it’s 92 pounds.

    6) I really like balancing the speed and load with the 7 PAS and 7 gears.

    7) The LCD is 10 minutes off on time and NO way to change it. I sent a note to Magicycle that claims 24X7 and still now answer from anyone.

    8) LCD – the LCD showed I had 52% power remaining. I turned off the LCD and turned right back and then it showed 93%. When I charged the battery, I monitored the exact KWh used, which was. 35 KWh. The battery is approx 1 KWh so based on the amount of energy needed to recharge fully to 100% the actual amount of charge remaining should have been about 65%. Based on my experience, the LCD battery monitoring is not reliable.

    9) The bike was pretty easy to assemble but I’m a DIY person and have worked a fair amount with bikes. I believe the average person should be able to do the assembly fine.

Overall, I really like the bike. However, Magicycle will need to be a more professional company and address the issues above – especially

support. They do a great job selling but not supporting their customers.

This was the worst experience ever. The bike came damaged and in poor mechanical condition. I wanted to return it but was told I had to pay a $400 restocking fee, on top of shipping costs. The accessories were cheap, not as described and took a month to receive from China. The customer service experience was awful. The bike itself is ugly from all of the welds and horrible design. Do not buy!!! It’s a waste of time and money.

Just bought one of these. I’m a girl who hasn’t put a bike together before. First of all, a lot of the free stuff was missing. I don’t really care about that. Then, different videos leave out different things. I spent 2 hours trying to put the tire on, not knowing there’s a piece you have to remove first. That’s not in the instructions. I also called them for assistance; they never responded. I don’t recommend for customer service.

The Step-Thru Cruiser is really fun to ride and offers excellent climbing ability. Riding up steep hills is no problem and the midnight blue color looks really sharp. Love my Cruiser!

    Definitely recommend…

I’m really happy with my Magicycle cruiser. I did a lot of research before I bought it and found that with all the included accessories, it was the best value for my money. The frame is solid and well made–if a bit heavy at 76 lb–but without the battery I can carry it around on my bike rack (max weight 70 lb) without any issues. It’s well balanced, so on relatively flat terrain it rides like any other ordinary bike. The display is easy to read in all light conditions, and has a lot of options for customizing your levels of assist and other features. I live in a hilly canyon area, and with some vigorous pedaling I can get up some pretty steep hills without maxing out the pedal assist. At 750 watts/53 volts, it is one of the more powerful street-legal bikes around, and the battery life is good, especially if you don’t use it all the time. The other day I rode for 53 miles on a mix of hills and flat terrain, and only used half of my available battery. The Tektro brakes are adequate for my riding style, although some folks switch them out for hydraulics. The integrated brake light is a great feature, (although I did add a couple of Blitzu blinkers for a bit more visibility), and the front suspension softens out the ride pretty well off-road or on bumpy streets. I’d definitely recommend this bike!
