    Magicycle Jaguarundi Review: E-Bike Overview

A bike that’s perfect for apartment dwellers, RV owners, and sailboat life, the Magicycle Jaguarundi features a compact, folding frame that can be easily stored in small spaces. The folding design also makes it incredibly easy to transport in the trunk or backseat of any car — no expensive bike rack required.

Powered by a 600W rear hub motor and a 52-volt 15Ah battery, the Jaguarundi delivers 55 miles of range on a single charge and provides riders with the speed and torque to climb hills, tackle off-road trails, and more.

We’ve long been fans of fat tire e-bikes, and the Jaguarundi’s 20″ x 4″ Kenda fat tires power effortlessly through mud, sand, snow, gravel, and more. Additionally, the front suspension fork provides excellent handling in all conditions. If you happen to be in the market for something with both front and rear suspension, we highly recommend checking out the all-new 750W Magicycle Deer.

Like the Magicycle Ocelot Pro and CRUISER STEP-THRU models, the Jaguarundi features a step-through frame design that makes it super easy to get on and off the bike. Step-through frames are ideal for the elderly, shorter individuals, and those who suffer from impaired mobility.

Braking power is provided by 180mm hydraulic disc brakes and the front and rear fenders do a nice job of keeping the rider clean and dry in wet conditions.

The Jaguarundi also comes with a basic LCD display, 7 pedal assist-levels, and a 12 magnet cadence sensor.

    Size and Weight

A bike that can be enjoyed by riders ranging from 4’10” to 6’2″, the Jaguarundi weighs in at 76 pounds and measures 67.71″ long. It has a 46.8″ wheelbase, 50″ handlebar height, and standover height of 15.74″.

    Performance and Ride

Magicycle’s Jaguarundi is a fun bike that combines extreme portability with performance. A stable, versatile ride that can be ridden in snow, sand, gravel, mud, and more, the Jaguarundi is a great e-bike platform for adventure seekers who need the flexibility of a highly portable, folding frame bike.

Packing the same battery as the popular Magicycle 52V CRUISER, the Jaguarundi delivers impressive range and the 600-watt brushless gear motor provides ample torque for steep hill climbing and riding through challenging terrain. We’re also happy that Magicycle went with 180mm hydraulic brakes on this new model, as they provide better stopping power than the mechanical brakes used on the company’s original CRUISER bike.

Lastly, the frame geometry of Magicycle’s Jaguarundi delivers a comfortable riding position that is suitable for a wide range of rider heights.

    Build Quality

The build quality of Magicycle’s bikes is good, and the company always delivers them in well-packed boxes. We feel the company does a nice job of balancing affordability and quality, and Magicycle’s reliable e-bikes provide good value for the money with quality mechanical and electrical components.

    Appearance

As far as folding bikes go, the Jaguarundi features a nice-looking design. Folding models are never going to be the most stylish e-bikes on the road, but the Jaguarundi is a cool looking ride and the available paint finish and Magicycle branding are well-done.

One minor gripe we have is the fact that the bike is currently only available in black — we’d love to see one or two additional color options made available in the future.

    Included Accessories & Optional Add-ons

Magicycle bundles a few accessories in with the Jaguarundi. In the box, you’ll find a front and rear fender set, LED headlight, and an 11-piece e-bike repair kit. Additionally, Magicycle sells a full range of add-on accessories that you can order to customize your ride, including mirrors, bags, safety gear, batteries, brakes, and more.

    Warranty & Customer Support

Each Magicycle e-bike is covered by a 2-year warranty which protects customers in the event of a manufacturing defect. While most consumer-direct e-bike companies only provide a 1-year warranty, Magicycle is one of a few that extends the duration of the warranty to 2 years. Additionally, the company offers customers a 15-day money-back return window and doesn’t charge hefty restocking fees when returns are processed (there’s just a $150 return shipping fee applied).

As far as Magicycle’s customer service goes, the company can be reached via live chat on its website, telephone, and email. In our experience, Magicycle does a better job with customer support than many other e-bike brands and the company has always sent us timely, same-day replies to our emailed inquiries…

    Final Thoughts

In conclusion, we’re very impressed with the Magicycle Jaguarundi and it’s great to see the brand expanding their lineup with a new class of e-bike. The Jaguarundi gives riders a fun and comfortable bike that performs well and can be quickly stowed away in locations where storage space is at a minimum. The Kenda fat tires and front suspension fork allow you to take this bike anywhere, making it an ideal choice for adventure seekers who need a compact, easy to transport ride for all-around use.

We’re also pleased with Magicycle’s extended 2-year warranty. Sometimes, manufacturing defects take a bit longer than a year to develop, so the longer warranty duration provides some added cushion as far as that goes.

All in all, the convenient Jaguarundi is a solid choice if you’re shopping around for a capable, all-terrain commuter that you can easily store on your sailboat, RV, or small apartment. It comes with some nice features, doesn’t skimp on performance, and is affordably priced (especially if you take advantage of the special offers that are currently running).
