Magicycle Cruiser Pro Review: E-Bike Overview

It isn’t hard to see why the new Magicycle Cruiser Pro has quickly become a favorite among fans of the company’s best-selling CRUISER model. The Cruiser Pro packages up everything that riders love about its entry-level predecessor and kicks things up a notch, resulting in a high-performance ride that’s truly capable of handling anything you can throw at it.

The Cruiser Pro is ideal for riders who are looking for a performance-focused e-bike that’s fun, easy to ride, and versatile enough to tackle both around-town commutes and challenging off-road trails.

Rolling on chunky 26″ x 4″ Kenda tires, the Cruiser Pro excels in difficult conditions and can be ridden in mud, snow, sand, and gravel. Magicycle paired the oversized Kenda tires with a premium hydraulic front fork, resulting in a comfy ride with top-shelf stability.

Magicycle upgraded the original CRUISER’s 750-watt motor with a more powerful version that puts out 96Nm of torque, perfect for hill climbing and hauling heavy loads. The Cruiser Pro also packs a long-distance 52V 20Ah battery pack that delivers an impressive 80 miles of range (Magicycle is also using this battery configuration in the recently-launched Ocelot Pro).

The performance of the CRUISER’s original mechanical disc brakes were frequently called into question, and Magicycle upgraded the new Cruiser Pro model with 180mm Tektro hydraulic braking for top-notch stopping power. This was a really nice upgrade over the previously-used mechanical brakes, and they perform outstandingly well.

Available in both step-over and step-through frame variations, the Cruiser Pro also comes with a 7-speed Shimano Tourney drivetrain, 7-level pedal-assist system, and half-twist throttle.

Lastly, the full-color LCD display is easy to read and provides riders with a wattmeter, speedometer, odometer, and remaining battery capacity. There’s also a handy USB charging port that makes it easy to charge a phone and other small devices while you’re out riding.

    Size and Weight

Perfect for riders 5’5″ to 6’5″, the Magicycle Cruiser Pro is 74.8″ long with a handlebar height of 47.25″. The bike has a 45.67″ wheelbase and the seat can be adjusted from 34.25″ to 43.31″. Weighing in at 76 pounds, the Cruiser Pro can support up to 350 pounds.

    Performance and Ride

As expected, the Magicycle Cruiser Pro ranks highly when it comes to fun factor and overall performance. The company has made some key improvements to its top-selling model and the end result is an electric bicycle that leaves little to be desired.

The large Kenda tires and front lockout suspension fork deliver a smooth, comfortable ride regardless of terrain, and the bike handles very well in a wide variety of conditions.

You can really feel a big difference when it comes to the Cruiser Pro’s upgraded motor, and you’ll have no trouble as far as hill climbing and acceleration go.

With a max range of 80 miles, long-distance rides are no challenge and the stopping power provided by the upgraded Tektro hydraulic brakes is impressive.

    Build Quality

Magicycle makes a nice bike for the money, and build quality is consistently good. Any problems related to shipping or quality control are promptly handled by the company, and the brand has a reputation for providing excellent customer support.

    Appearance

An aggressive-looking bike that’s guaranteed to be noticed wherever you ride, the Magicycle Cruiser Pro is an attractive ride that looks good in both colorways (White, and Midnight Blue). This is a big bike, and the huge tires, fenders, front suspension, and rear rack contribute to its head-turning appearance.

    Included Accessories & Optional Add-ons

Magicycle includes a nice accessory bundle with the Cruiser Pro. In addition to the front and rear fenders, rear cargo rack, and LED headlight, you’ll find an 11-piece e-bike toolkit along with a convenient carrying pouch. Of course, you can also upgrade your ride with the wide variety of optional add-on accessories sold by Magicycle, including panniers, bike mirrors, accessory mounts, and more.

    Warranty & Customer Support

Magicycle includes a rock-solid 2-year warranty with all of its electric bicycles, providing customers with a longer warranty than many other factory-direct e-bike companies offer. Additionally, there’s a 15-day return policy to ensure that customers are pleased with their order (although Magicycle does apply a $150 return shipping fee to bikes that are returned).

As mentioned, Magicycle does a great job with customer support, and the company can be contacted via email as well as live chat through its website. Additionally, there’s an active online Magicycle community that’s a super helpful resource for owners.

Last but not least, we test the responsiveness of each brand’s customer support department whenever doing an e-bike review, and we’re happy to report that someone at Magicycle headquarters responded to our emailed inquiry in just over 3 hours…
