In this Lectric XP 2.0 review, we’ll dive into all the details that make the XP 2.0 unique, different, and in our opinion, one of the strongest folding electric bike contenders in its class.
What stands out immediately is the fact that the XP 2.0 is available in both step-over and step-thru frame configurations — a rare feature in a folding frame. The Lectric XP 2.0 foldable electric bike offers outstanding portability and is designed for easy storage and transport, with a foldable design that’s tough enough to hold up to daily commuting.
The bike comes equipped with a 500W rear hub motor (850W of peak output), a removable 48V 9.6Ah lithium-poly battery (460Wh), an adjustable front suspension fork with 40mm of travel, and five pedal-assist levels plus a throttle-only mode.

Lectric XP 2.0 Review: E-Bike Overview
The Lectric XP 2.0 is the second generation of the brand’s ultra-popular folding e-bike. Designed for all-around fun, the XP 2.0 ranks highly when it comes to versatility, making it a great choice for e-bike camping trips, light off-roading, daily commutes, and more. The bike is also surprisingly affordable, which makes it accessible to a large number of people.
We love that Lectric ships the XP 2.0 fully assembled, meaning you can begin enjoying it immediately once it arrives. Additionally, we like the fact that Lectric offers riders two frame options: a step-over and a step-thru frame. If you’re an older individual or someone who suffers from limited mobility, the XP 2.0 Step-Thru version is an ideal choice.
In terms of portability, the XP 2.0 is fantastic. Quick and easy to fold, the bike is easy to transport in your vehicle and can be stowed away in small spaces. This makes the XP 2.0 a great choice for RV life, apartment living, sailboats, etc.
The bike also comes with a smooth-shifting 7-speed SHIMANO drivetrain, Tektro 160mm mechanical disc brakes, a front suspension fork with 40mm of travel, and 20″x3″ fat tires for all-terrain fun.
Powered by a 500W rear hub motor and 48V 9.6Ah LiPo battery (LG/Samsung), the XP 2.0 tops out at 28 mph when set up as a Class 3 e-bike. As far as range goes, the bike can deliver up to 45 miles per charge. For long-distance riding, check out the upgraded Lectric XP 2.0 Long-Range model (65-mile range) or the new mid-drive Lectric XPremium (100-mile range).
The XP 2.0 also comes equipped with front and rear fenders to keep the rider clean and dry when conditions get sloppy, and there’s a rear cargo rack for your camping gear and shopping supplies, too.

The Lectric XP 2.0 weighs 64 lbs and is optimized for riders who range in size from 4’10” to 6’5″. The bike measures 67″ x 25″ x 47″ and folds up to 37″ x 18″ x 28″. It has a 24″ standover height and the seat-to-ground distance can be adjusted from 32″ to 42″, while the handlebars are adjustable from 45″ to 48″.

The wider handlebar design of this second-gen XP provides added stability and makes the bike a little easier to control, particularly when you’re out on the trails or navigating rough terrain
One thing to keep in mind (and this goes for any 20″ e-bike), is that the smaller wheel size will result in a ride that feels a little less stable at higher speeds when compared to larger 26″ wheels.

As mentioned in our review of the Lectric XP 3.0, we think it would be nice if the brand offered a few more color choices, such as the Sandstorm and Lectric Blue colorways that are currently available on the entry-level XP Lite model.

The easiest way to fold the XP 2.0 is to begin with the pedals. With your XP 2.0 resting on its kickstand, fold up both pedals and rotate them so that the right pedal is forward and the left pedal is behind. Next, while standing on the left side of the bike, flip the locking lever mechanism open, place your right foot behind the rear wheel, and grab the handlebar stem. As you pull the stem towards you, the bike will begin to fold in half. Lean the bike over and put the kickstand up before folding the bike completely.
Yes, the Lectric XP 2.0 offers a lot of bang for the buck and is well worth the money in our opinion. While you might be able to find some folding electric bikes that are cheaper, you'll be hard-pressed to find a more well-built, better-equipped ride at this price point.
In order to increase the XP 2.0's top speed from 20mph to 28mph, you'll need to unlock the bike. To do so, hold down the + and - buttons to access the built-in settings menu. Next, top the power button until you get to page 8 which contains the bike's speed settings. Hit the + button to change the settings to 100, which will unlock your XP 2.0.
Out of the box, the Lectric XP 2.0 has a top speed of 20 mph. After unlocking the bike, you can achieve max speeds of around 28 mph.
The standard XP 2.0 battery configuration takes approximately 5 hours to charge, while the upgraded XP 2.0 Long-Range model takes 6 hours to fully charge.
The XP 2.0 can deliver a maximum range of 45 miles. If you're looking for a ride with more battery life, we recommend checking out the Lectric XP 2.0 Long-Range which comes with a higher-capacity battery. The XP 2.0 Long-Range delivers up to 65 miles of range.

The RadExpand 5 comes equipped with a 750W rear hub motor and 48V 14Ah battery, while the XP 2.0 ships with a 500W rear hub motor and 48V 9.6Ah battery. Both bikes have an official range rating of 45 miles and roll on fat tires, although the RadExpand 5's rubber is slightly beefier at 20" x 4" vs. the XP 2.0's 20" x 3" tires. Another difference is the suspension —the RadExpand 5 is a rigid e-bike, while Lectric's XP 2.0 is fitted with a 40mm front suspension fork. While these are two very different bikes, for the money we would choose the Lectric XP 2.0 as represents a far better value in our opinion.
The Lectric XP Lite and XP 2.0 are two folding e-bike models that pack a ton of value. The XP Lite is Lectric's entry-level model, and as such, comes in at a slightly lower price point than the XP 2.0 ($899 vs. $1,099). The XP Lite is a single-speed bike while Lectric's XP 2.0 is equipped with a 7-speed SHIMANO drivetrain. In the weight department, the XP Lite wins big (as its name would suggest), weighing in at only 46 lbs compared to the XP 2.0's 64 lbs heft. Another difference is the tires — the XP Lite features 20" x 2.4" or 20" x 2.6" rubber, while the XP 2.0 is fitted with a 20" x 3" tire. The XP Lite is powered by a 300W rear hub motor and 48V 7.8Ah battery while the XP 2.0 comes standard with a 48V 9.6Ah battery and 500W rear hub motor. Lastly, the XP Lite features a trimmed-down, minimalist design that has been stripped of add-ons such as fenders and a rear rack.
