This week saw a flurry of early Black Friday deal announcements for electric bikes, scooters, and skateboards. As we all know, exciting sales tend to happen now in the lead-up to Black Friday, and this week there were plenty of early deals announced.

Elsewhere, KBO has launched a new folding e-bike model called the Flip. A fat tire model designed for portability and all-terrain riding, the KBO Flip packs a 500W rear hub motor and 36V 15.6Ah battery that reportedly delivers up to 60 miles of range.

Lime also announced its new shared e-bike program in Boise, Idaho. Lime’s latest endeavor comes on the heels of Boise’s successful pilot program which saw a fleet of 50 e-bikes being used by more than 2,400 riders over three and a half months.

Also new this week, was the announcement that Bicycle Retailer & Industry News is launching a new weekly email newsletter that will focus on breaking news from the electric bike industry.

Lastly, Lime makes headlines yet again this week with its £6.3 million investment into London’s sustainable transport sector.

Early Bird Black Friday Sales Announced on E-Bikes, Electric Scooters, & Skateboards

2022’s Black Friday season is upon us, and some brands are getting ahead of the rush with early bird Black Friday deals on electric bikes, scooters, and skateboards.

First up, Magicycle is offering a massive $800 discount on its sleek commuter e-bike. Available in both step-over and step-through frame versions, the Magicycle Commuter is powered by a 52V 7Ah battery and 350W rear hub motor.

Montreal-based Apollo also announced special promotions on its popular Ghost and Phantom models. These special deals are strictly limited and include an Air Pro with the purchase of a Ghost or Phantom for only $100 or $200.

Meepo also unveiled some big discounts on its popular range of electric skateboards, including $400 off its high-performance, all-terrain Meepo Hurricane.

Lastly, Blix rolled out special pricing on most of its e-bike models, including:

  • $300 off the Blix Aveny
  • $300 off the Blix Sol
  • $300 off the dual-battery Packa
  • $100 off the new Blix Dubbel
  • $100 off the single battery Packa

The New KBO Flip — a Folding Fat Tire E-Bike Model

Electric bike startup KBO unveiled its all-new Flip model this week, a folding fat tire e-bike that was built for portability and all-terrain riding.

Weighing in at 57 lbs, the KBO Flip rolls on 20″ x 3″ Chaoyang tires and features a 7-speed SHIMANO drivetrain. Powering the bike is a 500W rear hub motor and a 36V 15.6Ah battery that’s capable of delivering up to 60 miles per charge.

KBO includes an integrated rear cargo rack for hauling gear and shopping supplies, and the bike also ships with a front suspension fork and mudguards.

The KBO Flip has an MSRP of $1,069 and is currently available for pre-order for $869. Orders are expected to ship in December 2022.

Lime Launches New Shared e-Bike Program in Boise, Idaho

Lime has been operating in Boise, Idaho since 2018 with its shared electric scooter program, but this week, the micromobility provider announced its new shared e-bike program in the city. Coming after the city’s successful pilot program which resulted in a fleet of 50 e-bikes being used by 2,400 riders over a three-and-a-half-month period, the news shows Lime’s continued commitment to growing the use of EVs in cities around the world.

Lime’s new electric bike fleet will offer Boise residents a safe and affordable transportation option, and based on the previous success of Boise’s GreenBike program, we expect this new endeavor will turn out to be a big success.

Lime Invests Additional £6.3 million into Sustainable London Transport Sector

Lime made headlines yet again this week after it announced another £6.3 million investment into London’s sustainable transport sector.

In January 2022, Lime took an initial stake of £20 million with the opening of the company’s new warehouse and the launch of its new lineup of personal EVs. The brand’s latest capital injection will aid in its goal of encouraging car-free transportation options and becoming the world’s first profitable global transportation tech company.

According to Lime, London saw a 117% year-over-year increase in e-bike and electric scooter rides along with a 67% jump in first-time riders.
